New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of the Republic of Korea, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and the Republic of Malta presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mr. Kang-il Hu, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Eun Ok Hwang, and by Mr. Jin Weon Chae, Counsellor at the Embassy.

H.E. Mr. Fernando López-Fabregat, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Maria Carolina Silveira.

H.E. Mr. Norman Hamilton, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta, was accompanied by Ms. Joanna Pisani, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy.

Mr. Joe McHugh, T.D., Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President; Mr. Fergal Mythen, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Catherine Campbell, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant Michael Conneely.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1st Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant JP Lee.

Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks.
